The Art of Asking…

The Art of Asking…

I just put a sticky note on my bathroom mirror this morning that reads: ASK…

Some of us are in high gear each day. Every minute it sometimes seems. Offering. Thanking. Giving. Honoring. Accepting… OTHERS…

But, how about the Art of Asking? How about bowing down and Accepting? Receiving?

I’m talking to those of you who are tilting a little bit and feeling a little “needy.”

Yesterday, is a good example for me. Rather than scramble to clean out (I mean scrub) the inside of my refrigerator (I mean disgusting) shelves before the school bell rang, I saved it intentionally. I ASKED my daughter for help after school. Ended up being two hours of fun and laughs. We cranked the tunes and got ‘er done. It was a blessing in disguise. And, resulted in more bonding than we have had in a while.

Simple concept, I know. And, don’t get me wrong. The kids help out around the house often, but it was more the INTENTION OF ASKING. The Art. Without my clear intention of asking, I probably would have gotten a bit of a tantrum or huff and puff throughout the whole process. Like she was obligated versus willing.

So, just a gentle reminder, that we don’t need to conquer the world one-sidedly. Let’s be sure to ask – whomever – be it our spouse, co-workers, kids, family, friends, or higher power for help. For love. For support. For grace. For honor. For acceptance…

Will you? Please?
